Following participating on a successful private Beijing to Paris classic car tour in 2007, Rally Tours NZ managing director, Greg Paul decided to offer other enthusiastic travelers a chance to experience travel by road through this relatively unexplored part of then world.
We started the inaugural Beijing to Paris 4X4 self drive expedition in June 2009 with 12 vehicles and 26 clients, this followed by yet another successful tour in 2010 with enquires for the 2011 and 2012 tours being received. All tours have followed the same route through China, Russia and the Eastern Bloc countries to Paris.
This is a trip of lifetime that will take you through countries that have only recently opened up to visitors. The diverse cultures, the ancient history and interesting heritage sites make this an amazing trip through time. You will be travelling with like- minded intrepid travelers who are eager to experience this unknown part of the world. Travelling in your own vehicle on some of the toughest and remotest roads in the world also add to the sense of achievement. This is an adventure you will never forget.

Tour members depart Auckland 1st July direct to Beijing.

Beijing: Home of the 2008 Olympics. See the Great Wall of China and Tiananmen Square.
Gobi Desert: drive through this expanse of desert, staying in traditional gur tent accommodation
Ulaanbaatar: The capital of Mongolia, a welcome rest place after travelling through the vast Gobi Desert.
Novosibirsk: A truly colorful city in the middle of Siberia.
Moscow: Red Square, St Basils and a return to modern Russia.
St Petersburg: Formally known as Leningrad. Heritage palace, home of the Tsars.
Helsinki: Finland and civilized Europe. A side trip to this beautiful Scandinavian city.
Warsaw: A visit to a war-torn Eastern European city of the past.
Kracow: Visit the Wieliczka Salt mine is one of Europe's oldest functioning underground facilities. Also Auschwitz concentration camp - a very sobering experience
Prague: The location of Europe’s largest palace and a city with lots of History.
Paris: Our final destination at the famous Eiffel Tower
