Dakar Rally - January 2013

This iconic endurance event for bikes, quads, cars and trucks is unique in that it covers 3 countries and a variety of inhospitable terrain over a period of 15 days. Joining us on this hard-core adventure rally were Rally Tours regulars, Kerry and Sue Rasmussen and Neil Gourley from Brisbane. Following the “Dakar” was an awesome experience and Rally Tours will be run this tour again in 2015. I can safely suggest that this event has to rate as the most exciting event that we have attempted in a long time.

After fare-welling the Aussies in Santiago Murray and I headed back over the Andes and back into Argentina. The object of the exercise was to make our way down to the southern tip of South America to Ushuaia to check out a future South America 4×4 and classic car tour itinerary. Murray and I covered almost 8,000km criss-crossing in and out of Chile and Argentina and formulating a very nice 35 day program. We travelled on a variety of roads, met some wonderful local people in both countries and saw some amazing scenery and as a result will run a classic car tour in South America in 2015.
